EPSON Perfection V700 Photo

2.1.4 Dual Lens System

Perfection V700 Photo is equipped with two types of lens which enable
two different resolutions. The Lens motor switches between the two
lenses. Depending on document type selected on the scanner driver, one
of the two lenses (resolution) is automatically selected.

Resolution Lens as it does not support the film area guide.
Dual Lens System Operation
Both of the two lenses are mounted on the Holder Lens. The holder is
usually located close to the Carriage shaft to use the High Resolution
Lens. When the Film Holder or DigitalIce is used to scan a transparent
document, the Lens motor moves the Holder Lens to use the Super
Resolution Lens.
Because of the difference in focal length of the two lenses, a scanning
area reflected on the CCD varies by each lens. As the number of CCD
pixels differs between the two areas, the different resolutions can be
obtained.
